Job description

Security and Safety: Ensuring the safety and security of inmates, residents, staff, and visitors within the facility. This involves implementing and enforcing security protocols, conducting regular security checks, and responding to emergencies and incidents. Supervision: Providing supervision and guidance to staff members, including correctional officers, counselors, and administrative staff. This includes scheduling, training, and evaluating staff performance to ensure effective operations. Administration: Managing administrative tasks such as budgeting, financial management, procurement, and record-keeping. This may also involve developing policies and procedures to govern the operation of the facility. Inmate/Resident Management: Overseeing the management of inmates or residents, including intake processes, classification, housing assignments, and disciplinary actions. This also involves promoting rehabilitation and providing access to programs and services aimed at addressing the needs of inmates or residents. Community Relations: Building positive relationships with the surrounding community, stakeholders, and relevant agencies. This may involve coordinating with law enforcement, local government officials, and community organizations to address concerns and promote cooperation. Crisis Management: Responding to crises and emergencies within the facility, such as riots, disturbances, or medical emergencies. This involves implementing emergency response plans, coordinating with relevant authorities, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all individuals involved. Legal Compliance: Ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards governing the operation of the facility. This includes staying informed about changes in legislation and legal requirements and implementing necessary adjustments to policies and procedures. Staff Training and Development: Providing ongoing training and professional development opportunities for staff to enhance their skills and knowledge in areas such as security, crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and cultural competency. Conflict Resolution: Addressing conflicts and disputes that arise within the facility, whether between inmates/residents or between staff members. This involves employing conflict resolution techniques and facilitating mediation or disciplinary actions as necessary. Advocacy and Support: Advocating for the rights and well-being of inmates or residents, including ensuring access to healthcare, legal representation, and other essential services. Additionally, providing support and guidance to individuals transitioning out of the facility to promote successful reintegration into the community.
