Job description

Greeting and Seating Guests: Welcoming guests as they arrive, escorting them to their tables, and providing menus. Waiters may also inform guests about daily specials or promotions. Taking Orders: Listening to guests' preferences, answering questions about menu items, and accurately recording food and beverage orders. They may also provide recommendations based on guest preferences and restaurant offerings. Serving Food and Beverages: Delivering orders from the kitchen to guests' tables promptly and efficiently. Waiters ensure that meals are served at the correct temperature and presentation standards are met. Table Maintenance: Monitoring tables throughout the meal to anticipate guests' needs, refill drinks, clear empty plates and utensils, and reset tables for the next guests. They may also ensure tables are clean and tidy between seatings. Handling Payments: Presenting bills to guests, processing payments (cash, credit/debit cards, or digital payments), and returning change or receipts promptly. Waiters may also process split bills or handle gift certificates and vouchers. Customer Interaction: Engaging with guests in a friendly and professional manner, addressing any concerns or special requests, and ensuring overall guest satisfaction. They may also inform guests about restaurant policies and procedures. Collaboration with Kitchen and Bar: Communicating orders and special requests accurately to the kitchen and bar staff. Waiters coordinate with chefs and bartenders to ensure timely preparation and delivery of food and beverages. Menu Knowledge: Demonstrating a thorough understanding of the menu, including ingredients, cooking methods, and dietary information. Waiters should be able to describe menu items clearly and make appropriate recommendations. Upselling and Promotion: Suggesting additional items, desserts, or beverages to enhance the dining experience and increase sales. Waiters may also inform guests about upcoming events or promotions at the restaurant. Adherence to Health and Safety Regulations: Following health and safety protocols, including food handling procedures, sanitation practices, and cleanliness standards. Waiters contribute to maintaining a safe and hygienic dining environment for guests and staff.
