Job description

Tire Fitting: Tyre fitters mount new tires onto vehicle wheels, ensuring that they are properly seated and secured. This involves removing the old tires, inspecting the wheels for damage, mounting the new tires, and inflating them to the correct pressure. Wheel Balancing: They balance tires using a wheel balancing machine to ensure that weight is evenly distributed around the wheel assembly. This helps prevent vibrations, uneven tire wear, and steering issues. Tire Repair: Tyre fitters repair punctures, cuts, and other damage to tires using patching or plugging techniques. They inspect the tire for damage, locate the puncture or leak, and apply the appropriate repair method to restore the tire's integrity. Tire Rotation: They rotate tires on vehicles to ensure even wear and extend tire life. This involves moving tires from one wheel position to another according to a specific rotation pattern recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. Tire Inspection: Tyre fitters inspect tires for signs of wear, damage, or irregularities. This includes checking tread depth, sidewall condition, and tire pressure to identify any issues that may affect tire performance or safety. Tire Maintenance: They perform routine maintenance tasks such as tire pressure checks, inflation, and tread depth measurement to ensure that tires are in good condition and properly maintained. Wheel Alignment: While not always part of their primary duties, some tyre fitters may also perform basic wheel alignment checks to ensure that wheels are properly aligned with each other and with the vehicle's frame. Customer Service: Tyre fitters provide excellent customer service by answering customer questions, providing advice on tire selection, recommending appropriate tires for specific vehicles or driving conditions, and ensuring customer satisfaction with the service provided. Safety Compliance: They adhere to safety regulations and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for themselves and their colleagues. This includes using personal protective equipment (PPE), following safe handling practices for tires and equipment, and complying with workplace health and safety standards. Record-keeping: Tyre fitters maintain accurate records of tire fitting, repair, and maintenance activities, including details of services performed, tire specifications, and customer information. This helps track service history and ensures that customers receive appropriate follow-up care.
