Vehicle Inspection: Conducting pre-trip inspections of the truck, including checking tires, brakes, lights, fluids, and other essential components to ensure they are in good working condition. Cargo Loading and Unloading: Loading and securing cargo onto the truck using appropriate equipment and techniques, and ensuring that it is properly balanced and distributed for safe transport. Route Planning: Planning the most efficient route to reach the destination, taking into account factors such as traffic conditions, weather, road closures, and weight restrictions. Safe Driving Practices: Operating the truck safely and defensively, obeying traffic laws and regulations, and following company policies and procedures to minimize the risk of accidents and injuries. Time Management: Managing driving hours and rest breaks effectively to meet delivery deadlines while adhering to hours-of-service regulations to prevent driver fatigue. Communication: Maintaining communication with dispatchers, supervisors, and other team members to provide updates on delivery status, report any issues or delays, and coordinate logistics as needed. Documentation: Keeping accurate records of driving hours, mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery documentation such as bills of lading, shipping manifests, and delivery receipts. Customer Service: Providing excellent customer service to clients and receivers by delivering goods on time, handling inquiries and concerns professionally, and representing the company in a positive manner. Vehicle Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance tasks such as refueling, oil changes, and minor repairs, and reporting any mechanical issues or safety concerns to maintenance staff. Emergency Response: Knowing how to respond to emergencies such as accidents, breakdowns, or hazardous conditions on the road, and taking appropriate action to ensure the safety of yourself and others. Adherence to Regulations: Complying with federal, state, and local regulations governing commercial trucking operations, including weight limits, size restrictions, and licensing requirements. Environmental Awareness: Minimizing environmental impact by following fuel-efficient driving practices, properly disposing of waste materials, and reporting any spills or leaks promptly.
