Job description

Tandoor Construction: Building and shaping tandoors from clay, using traditional techniques to create cylindrical or barrel-shaped structures with a characteristic rounded top. Clay Preparation: Mixing clay with other materials such as sand, straw, or rice husks to create a workable mixture with the right consistency for shaping and molding tandoors. Molding and Shaping: Hand-molding clay into the desired shape and size of the tandoor, paying attention to detail to ensure uniform thickness and structural integrity. Firing and Curing: Preparing tandoors for firing by allowing them to dry gradually and then subjecting them to high heat to cure the clay and strengthen the structure. Tandoor makers monitor the firing process to prevent cracking or damage. Installation and Setup: Installing tandoors in restaurant kitchens, outdoor spaces, or other designated areas, ensuring proper ventilation and safety measures are in place. Maintenance and Repair: Performing routine maintenance tasks to keep tandoors in good working condition, including cleaning, patching cracks, and replacing worn-out parts such as grates or door seals. Temperature Control: Monitoring and regulating the temperature inside the tandoor during cooking, adjusting airflow and fuel levels to achieve the desired heat for different types of dishes. Food Preparation: Collaborating with chefs and kitchen staff to prepare and cook a variety of dishes in the tandoor, including naan bread, tandoori chicken, kebabs, and grilled vegetables.
