Academic Advising: Assisting students in setting academic goals, selecting courses, and planning their educational pathways. You provide guidance on academic requirements, course options, majors, minors, and academic policies, and help students develop study skills, time management strategies, and academic success plans. Personal Counseling: Offering individual counseling and support to students facing personal or emotional challenges. You provide a safe and confidential space for students to express their feelings, thoughts, and concerns, and offer guidance, empathy, and encouragement to help them cope with stress, anxiety, depression, or other mental health issues. Career Counseling: Providing career exploration and guidance to help students identify their interests, strengths, and career aspirations. You administer career assessments, discuss career options and pathways, and assist students in making informed decisions about majors, internships, job opportunities, and post-graduation plans. College Admissions Counseling: Assisting students in the college admissions process, including researching colleges, preparing applications, writing personal statements, and securing financial aid or scholarships. You provide information on college admission requirements, deadlines, standardized tests, and application procedures, and offer support and guidance throughout the application process. Study Skills Workshops: Conducting workshops or seminars on study skills, time management, test-taking strategies, and other academic success skills. You provide tips, techniques, and resources to help students improve their study habits, organization, note-taking, and exam preparation skills. Conflict Resolution and Mediation: Facilitating conflict resolution and mediation sessions to help students resolve interpersonal conflicts or disputes. You serve as a neutral mediator, listen to both parties' perspectives, facilitate communication and negotiation, and help students find mutually acceptable solutions or compromises. Crisis Intervention: Providing immediate support and assistance to students in crisis or emergency situations. You assess the situation, offer crisis counseling, and connect students with appropriate resources or services such as mental health counseling, medical assistance, or campus security as needed. Referral Services: Referring students to external resources, agencies, or professionals for specialized assistance or support beyond the scope of counseling services offered on campus. You maintain a network of community resources, mental health providers, and support services and help students access appropriate resources for their needs. Advocacy and Outreach: Advocating for student needs and concerns and promoting awareness of mental health, wellness, and support services available on campus. You collaborate with faculty, staff, and student organizations to develop programs, events, and initiatives that promote student well-being, diversity, and inclusion. Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintaining accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions, assessments, interventions, and referrals. You document student progress, concerns, and follow-up actions in accordance with ethical and legal guidelines, and ensure the confidentiality and privacy of student information.
