Job description

Academic Guidance: Assisting students in setting academic goals, selecting courses, and planning their educational path. Counselors monitor academic progress, identify challenges, and provide strategies for improvement. Personal Counseling: Offering emotional and psychological support to students facing personal issues or challenges. This may include coping with stress, managing relationships, overcoming obstacles, and developing resilience. Career Counseling: Helping students explore career interests, aptitudes, and aspirations. Counselors provide career assessments, information about career options, and guidance on educational and vocational pathways. College and University Guidance: Assisting students in researching and applying to colleges, universities, and vocational programs. Counselors provide information on admission requirements, scholarships, financial aid, and college entrance exams (e.g., SAT, ACT). Crisis Intervention: Responding to crises or emergencies affecting students, such as emotional crises, conflicts, or safety concerns. Counselors provide immediate support, intervention, and referrals to appropriate resources or professionals as needed. Individual and Group Counseling: Conducting individual counseling sessions to address specific student needs and concerns. Facilitating group counseling sessions on topics such as study skills, peer relationships, and personal development. Parent and Teacher Collaboration: Collaborating with parents, teachers, and school administrators to support student success and well-being. Counselors may participate in parent-teacher conferences, IEP (Individualized Education Program) meetings, and student support teams. Educational Advocacy: Advocating for students' educational and developmental needs within the school community. Counselors ensure equitable access to educational opportunities and support inclusive practices. Prevention Programs: Developing and implementing programs to promote mental health, prevent substance abuse, address bullying, and promote positive behavior among students. Professional Development: Engaging in ongoing professional development to stay updated on counseling techniques, educational trends, and student support strategies. Counselors may attend workshops, conferences, and training sessions to enhance their skills and knowledge.
