Job description

Inventory Management: Managing inventory levels to ensure adequate stock levels while minimizing excess inventory. This involves monitoring inventory levels, conducting regular stock counts, and replenishing stock as needed. Receiving and Inspection: Receiving incoming shipments of goods, verifying the accuracy of orders, and inspecting goods for quality and condition. Storekeepers ensure that received items match purchase orders and that any discrepancies are addressed promptly. Storage and Organization: Organizing and storing goods in the warehouse or store in an efficient and systematic manner. This includes assigning storage locations, labeling items appropriately, and ensuring that storage areas are clean, organized, and safe. Issuing and Dispatching: Fulfilling requests for items from internal departments or customers, preparing items for dispatch, and coordinating with shipping or delivery personnel to ensure timely and accurate delivery. Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of inventory transactions, including receipts, issues, transfers, and adjustments. Storekeepers use inventory management software or manual systems to record and track inventory movements. Quality Control: Ensuring that stored items meet quality standards and specifications. Storekeepers may conduct quality inspections of incoming goods, monitor product expiration dates, and identify and address any quality issues or concerns. Stock Rotation: Implementing stock rotation procedures to prevent stockouts, minimize waste, and ensure that older stock is used or sold before newer stock. Storekeepers may use techniques such as FIFO (first in, first out) or FEFO (first expired, first out) to manage stock rotation effectively. Safety and Compliance: Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and standards in the warehouse or store. Equipment Maintenance: Maintaining and servicing warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and storage racks to ensure safe and efficient operation. Storekeepers may schedule regular maintenance, perform routine inspections, and arrange for repairs as needed. Team Management: Supervising and providing direction to warehouse staff or store assistants.
