Steel Fabricator Job in Palakkad

Palakkad, Kerala Full Time Date: 12 April 2024

Job description

Reading Blueprints and Specifications: Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to understand the design requirements and dimensions of the steel components or structures to be fabricated. Material Handling and Preparation: Handle raw steel materials, such as beams, plates, and pipes, using lifting equipment and machinery. Prepare the steel materials by cutting them to the required sizes and shapes using cutting torches, saws, or plasma cutters. Cutting and Shaping: Cut and shape steel materials according to the design specifications using various cutting and shaping techniques, including shearing, sawing, punching, drilling, bending, and rolling. Ensure accurate dimensions and smooth edges for further processing. Welding and Joining: Weld steel components together using welding techniques such as arc welding, MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding, TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding, or spot welding. Ensure strong and durable welds that meet quality standards and structural requirements. Assembly and Fitting: Assemble fabricated steel components or structures by fitting and aligning them according to the design specifications. Use bolts, rivets, or welding to join components together securely. Surface Treatment: Apply surface treatments to fabricated steel components to improve their appearance, durability, and corrosion resistance. This may include processes such as sandblasting, painting, powder coating, or galvanizing. Quality Control: Inspect fabricated steel components at various stages of the fabrication process to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. Perform dimensional checks, visual inspections, and non-destructive testing as required. Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols, procedures, and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety guidelines when operating machinery and handling materials. Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and clean fabrication equipment, tools, and machinery to ensure they are in good working condition. Perform routine maintenance tasks and troubleshoot equipment issues as needed to minimize downtime. Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of fabrication activities, including material usage, work orders, inspection reports, and quality control documentation. Complete production reports and documentation as required by company policies or regulatory requirements. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other fabricators, welders, supervisors, and engineers to coordinate fabrication activities and ensure project deadlines are met. Communicate effectively with team members to resolve issues and optimize workflow. Continuous Improvement: Seek opportunities to improve fabrication processes, techniques, and efficiency. Provide feedback and suggestions for process enhancements or equipment upgrades to improve productivity and quality.
