Menu planning: Designing menus that showcase a variety of South Indian dishes, including vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, and considering factors such as seasonality, availability of ingredients, and customer preferences. Food preparation: Preparing ingredients, marinating meats, grinding spices, and creating flavorful sauces, chutneys, and gravies that are essential for South Indian cuisine. Cooking techniques: Mastering various cooking techniques specific to South Indian cuisine, such as tempering (tadka), sautéing, frying (both shallow and deep), steaming, and simmering, to achieve the desired textures and flavors in dishes. Recipe execution: Following traditional recipes and cooking methods while also incorporating creativity and innovation to add your own unique touch to dishes. Spice blending: Expertly blending and balancing spices such as mustard seeds, cumin, coriander, turmeric, fenugreek, curry leaves, and dried red chilies to create authentic South Indian flavors. Presentation: Paying attention to the presentation of dishes, whether it's the arrangement of food on the plate or the garnishes used, to enhance the visual appeal and dining experience. Hygiene and safety: Adhering to strict hygiene and safety standards in the kitchen, including proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices, to ensure the safety and well-being of customers and staff.
