Job description

Curriculum Development: Designing and developing social science curricula, lesson plans, and instructional materials aligned with educational standards and learning objectives for different grade levels. Classroom Instruction: Delivering engaging and interactive social science lessons to students, using a variety of teaching methods, activities, and resources to foster critical thinking, inquiry, and understanding of social phenomena. Subject Areas: Teaching various disciplines within the social sciences, including history, geography, civics, economics, sociology, and anthropology, and providing students with a broad understanding of human society, cultures, and civilizations. Conceptual Understanding: Helping students develop a conceptual understanding of key social science concepts, theories, events, and phenomena, and encouraging them to analyze, interpret, and evaluate historical, geographical, and social data and evidence. Critical Thinking Skills: Promoting critical thinking skills by encouraging students to ask questions, challenge assumptions, evaluate sources, and make informed judgments about social issues, events, and developments. Research and Analysis: Teaching research skills and methods, such as conducting historical research, collecting and analyzing geographic data, and interpreting social science data sets, to deepen students' understanding of social phenomena and processes. Civic Education: Educating students about civic rights, responsibilities, and institutions, promoting civic engagement, participation, and activism, and fostering an appreciation for democratic values, principles, and processes. Global Awareness: Cultivating global awareness and intercultural competence by exploring global issues, interconnections, and perspectives, and encouraging students to understand and respect diverse cultures, societies, and worldviews. Multidisciplinary Connections: Integrating interdisciplinary perspectives and connections across social science disciplines, as well as with other subject areas such as literature, science, and the arts, to provide a holistic understanding of human society and its complexities. Technology Integration: Integrating technology tools and resources, such as multimedia presentations, digital maps, interactive simulations, and online databases, into social science instruction to enhance learning experiences and promote digital literacy. Skills: Content Knowledge: Strong knowledge of social science disciplines, theories, concepts, events, and developments, and expertise in specific areas such as history, geography, civics, economics, or sociology. Teaching Skills: Effective teaching skills, including lesson planning, classroom instruction, assessment, and classroom management techniques, to engage students and facilitate meaningful learning experiences.
