Job description

Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of service advisors, technicians, mechanics, and support staff, providing direction, guidance, training, and support to ensure optimal performance, productivity, and teamwork. Workshop Operations: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the workshop or service department, including scheduling work assignments, allocating resources, and managing workflow to maximize productivity, minimize downtime, and meet service deadlines. Customer Service: Ensure a high level of customer service and satisfaction by interacting with customers, addressing inquiries, resolving complaints, and ensuring that service advisors and staff provide courteous, professional, and attentive service at all times. Service Quality Assurance: Implement quality control measures and inspection procedures to ensure that vehicle repairs, maintenance services, and diagnostic work meet manufacturer specifications, industry standards, and customer expectations for quality and reliability. Parts and Inventory Management: Oversee parts ordering, stocking, inventory control, and distribution processes, ensuring adequate availability of parts, tools, and supplies to support service operations while minimizing excess inventory and obsolescence. Equipment and Facility Maintenance: Maintain and oversee the maintenance of workshop equipment, tools, machinery, and facilities, ensuring proper functionality, safety compliance, and cleanliness to provide a safe and efficient working environment for staff and customers. Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations, procedures, and best practices in the workshop environment, including proper handling of hazardous materials, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and adherence to safety protocols and regulations. Performance Monitoring: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as service efficiency, productivity, customer satisfaction, and profitability, analyzing performance data, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing corrective actions or process improvements as needed. Financial Management: Manage departmental budgets, expenses, and cost controls to optimize profitability, including monitoring labor costs, parts expenditures, overhead expenses, and revenue generation through upselling, cross-selling, and service promotions. Training and Development: Provide training, coaching, and development opportunities to service staff to enhance their technical skills, knowledge of automotive systems, diagnostic tools, and service procedures, promoting continuous learning and career advancement. Vendor and Supplier Relations: Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and service providers to negotiate favorable terms, ensure timely delivery of parts and supplies, and resolve issues or disputes related to pricing, quality, or service levels. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of service activities, work orders, labor hours, parts usage, customer interactions, and financial transactions using dealership or service management software systems, and generate reports for analysis, tracking, and decision-making purposes.
