As a security system technician, you install, configure, maintain, and repair video surveillance, alarms, and other security equipment while conforming to all safety protocols and other relevant codes. The security technician's main job responsibility is to maintain and repair security-related concerns in a company. They identify and troubleshoot basic network related problems on hardware or software. They monitor alarm wiring and equipment and ensure work is under the safety standards. A security alarm is a system designed to detect intrusions, such as unauthorized entry, into a building or other areas, such as a home or school. Security alarms protect against burglary (theft) or property damage, as well as against intruders. Installs, tests, and repairs security and fire alarm systems. Consults with client on system requirements; provides system recommendations and cost estimates. Uses blueprints or building plans to determine proper systems to install based on building layout and setting.
