Screen Printing Job in Thrissur

Thrissur, Kerala Full Time Date: 18 June 2024

Job description

Design Preparation: Artwork Creation: Designing or preparing the artwork to be printed using graphic design software. The design is typically separated into individual color layers, each corresponding to a separate screen. Screen Preparation: Screen Coating: Coating the mesh screen with a photosensitive emulsion that hardens when exposed to light. This emulsion creates a stencil (or screen) where the ink will pass through onto the substrate. Artwork Exposure: Placing a film positive of each color layer over the coated screen and exposing it to UV light. The light hardens the emulsion in the areas not covered by the opaque parts of the film, creating a stencil on the screen mesh. Screen Printing Setup: Screen Registration: Aligning and registering each screen (each representing a color layer) on the printing press. Registration ensures that all colors are accurately printed in the correct position relative to each other. Ink Preparation: Mixing or preparing the ink colors according to the Pantone Matching System (PMS) or custom color specifications. Printing Process: Ink Application: Placing the substrate (such as fabric or paper) on the printing bed beneath the screen. Applying a line of ink at the top of the screen and using a squeegee to pull the ink across the screen, forcing it through the mesh openings onto the substrate. Multiple Passes: Printing each color layer sequentially, allowing the ink to dry or cure between each pass. This process builds up the full-color design layer by layer. Curing: Heat Setting: Drying and curing the printed design to ensure adhesion and durability. This is typically done using a conveyor dryer or heat press, depending on the type of ink used (water-based, plastisol, or UV-curable inks). Finishing: Post-Printing Processes: Inspecting the printed substrate for quality, such as color vibrancy, registration accuracy, and overall print consistency. Additional Treatments: Performing post-printing treatments as needed, such as washing (for fabric prints), coating, or further curing steps. Advantages of Screen Printing: Versatility: Can be used to print on a wide range of substrates, including textiles (T-shirts, apparel), paper, plastics, metals, and wood. Durability: Provides durable and long-lasting prints, making it suitable for products requiring frequent use or exposure to harsh conditions. Color Vibrancy: Offers vibrant and opaque colors, especially with specialty inks like plastisol or UV inks. Large Volume Production: Efficient for large production runs due to its speed and ability to handle multiple colors. Customization: Allows for customization with special effects such as metallic inks, glitter, and high-density prints. Applications of Screen Printing: Apparel and Textiles: T-shirts, hoodies, hats, jerseys, and other garments. Promotional Products: Posters, banners, decals, stickers, and promotional items. Packaging: Printing on packaging materials such as boxes, bags, and labels. Industrial Applications: Printing on electronic components, signage, and industrial products.
