Science teachers are primarily responsible for planning and instructing science lessons on a day-to-day basis. When not actively engaged in the classroom, science teachers prepare lessons, assignments and tests. They also grade assignments and evaluate overall student performance. They plan the curriculum for their classes, and deliver it to their students, tailoring their lessons to their age groups and abilities. They evaluate and mentor students by grading homework and tests and assessing projects to know where a student stands. Science teachers instruct students in subject-specific classrooms. They create lesson plans; evaluate student performances; and teach using lectures, technology and hands-on learning experiences. They also model expected behavior to establish and maintain an orderly, disciplined classroom.
