Team Supervision: Leading and supervising the waitstaff team, including assigning duties, managing schedules, and ensuring proper staffing levels to meet operational needs. Service Coordination: Coordinating the flow of service in the dining area, including seating guests, managing reservations, and overseeing table assignments to optimize seating capacity and guest satisfaction. Guest Interaction: Interacting with guests to welcome them, assist with seating arrangements, and ensure their comfort throughout the dining experience. Restaurant Captains may also handle special requests, complaints, or feedback from customers. Order Management: Overseeing order-taking processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency. They may relay orders to the kitchen and bar staff, monitor order fulfillment, and coordinate timing of courses to ensure a smooth dining experience. Training and Development: Training new waitstaff on restaurant policies, service standards, menu knowledge, and proper etiquette. Restaurant Captains also provide ongoing coaching and mentorship to enhance team performance. Quality Control: Ensuring that service standards, including food presentation, table settings, and cleanliness, meet the restaurant's guidelines and exceed guest expectations. Problem Solving: Handling any issues or challenges that arise during service, such as resolving conflicts between staff or addressing guest concerns promptly and professionally. Upselling and Revenue Generation: Encouraging upselling of menu items, beverages, and specials to enhance guest experience and increase revenue. Restaurant Captains may promote seasonal offerings or recommend pairings to complement meals. Collaboration with Kitchen and Bar: Maintaining open communication with kitchen and bar staff to coordinate orders, address special requests, and ensure timely delivery of food and beverages. Health and Safety Compliance: Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, including sanitation practices, food handling procedures, and proper use of equipment.
