Job description

Installation: Install refrigeration systems, components, and equipment according to manufacturer specifications, engineering drawings, and building codes. Assemble piping, tubing, valves, compressors, condensers, evaporators, and other refrigeration components. Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on refrigeration systems to ensure optimal performance, energy efficiency, and longevity. Inspect and clean coils, fans, filters, and other components. Check refrigerant levels, lubricate moving parts, and calibrate controls. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with refrigeration systems, including mechanical failures, electrical malfunctions, and refrigerant leaks. Use diagnostic tools, gauges, and meters to identify problems and determine appropriate repair solutions. Repair: Repair or replace defective components, parts, or systems to restore refrigeration equipment to proper working condition. Replace compressors, motors, valves, thermostats, and other faulty components as needed. Weld or braze refrigeration lines and joints. Refrigerant Handling: Handle refrigerants safely and responsibly in compliance with environmental regulations and industry standards. Recover, recycle, and reclaim refrigerants according to EPA guidelines. Charge refrigeration systems with the appropriate type and amount of refrigerant. Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols, procedures, and regulations to prevent accidents, injuries, and hazardous conditions. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe work practices when working with refrigeration equipment, electrical systems, and hazardous materials. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and service calls using work orders, service reports, and equipment logs. Document equipment specifications, serial numbers, and warranty information for tracking and reference purposes. Customer Interaction: Communicate with customers, building owners, and facility managers to discuss service needs, maintenance schedules, and repair options. Provide recommendations for equipment upgrades, retrofits, or replacements based on performance assessments and cost-effectiveness. Continuing Education: Stay updated on advancements in refrigeration technology, equipment, and regulations through ongoing training, certification programs, and professional development opportunities. Expand knowledge and skills in areas such as energy efficiency, sustainability, and green refrigeration practices. Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency service calls and breakdowns to minimize downtime and disruption to operations. Troubleshoot problems, implement temporary fixes if necessary, and coordinate repairs to restore refrigeration systems to operational status quickly. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other technicians, contractors, and tradespeople on installation projects, retrofitting jobs, and maintenance contracts. Coordinate work schedules, share expertise, and provide assistance as needed to ensure project success and customer satisfaction. Quality Assurance: Perform quality assurance checks and inspections to verify that refrigeration systems meet performance standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations. Conduct performance tests, leak checks, and system evaluations to validate proper operation and efficiency.
