Job description

Installation: Installing refrigeration systems and equipment in various settings, including commercial, industrial, and residential buildings, as well as refrigerated trucks, vans, and containers. This includes connecting refrigerant lines, installing evaporators, condensers, compressors, and controls, and ensuring proper insulation and sealing. Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance tasks on refrigeration systems to ensure they operate efficiently and reliably. This may include cleaning coils, checking refrigerant levels, lubricating moving parts, inspecting electrical components, and replacing filters. Repair: Diagnosing and troubleshooting problems with refrigeration systems, such as leaks, malfunctions, or inefficiencies, and performing repairs or replacements as needed to restore functionality. This may involve repairing or replacing components such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, expansion valves, and refrigerant lines. Service Calls: Responding to service calls from customers experiencing issues with their refrigeration systems, diagnosing the problem onsite, and implementing solutions to resolve the issue promptly. This may involve repairing leaks, replacing faulty components, recharging refrigerant, or adjusting controls. Testing and Calibration: Testing refrigeration systems to ensure they meet performance standards and regulatory requirements. This may involve measuring temperature and humidity levels, checking pressure and flow rates, and calibrating controls and sensors. Refrigerant Handling: Handling refrigerants safely and responsibly, including recovering, recycling, and recharging refrigerant gases according to environmental regulations and industry best practices. This may involve using specialized equipment such as recovery machines, vacuum pumps, and manifold gauges. Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of service calls, repairs, installations, and maintenance activities, including documenting parts used, labor hours, and customer interactions. This may involve completing service reports, work orders, and invoices. Customer Communication: Communicating effectively with customers to explain service options, provide recommendations for repairs or replacements, and address any questions or concerns they may have about their refrigeration systems. This may involve providing guidance on proper operation and maintenance to prevent future issues. Safety Compliance: Adhering to safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others. This includes wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), following safety procedures when working with electrical systems and refrigerants, and maintaining compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations. Continuing Education: Staying updated on industry developments, new technologies, and manufacturer specifications through training programs, workshops, and professional certifications to maintain proficiency in refrigeration system installation, maintenance, and repair techniques. Teamwork: Collaborating with other technicians, contractors, and support staff to coordinate service calls, share knowledge and expertise, and ensure timely and efficient resolution of customer issues.
