Job description

Patient Care and Safety: Ensure the safety and comfort of patients during imaging procedures. Explain the process to patients, address their concerns, and provide instructions for positioning and breathing techniques. Use radiation protection measures to minimize radiation exposure risks for patients, staff, and yourself. Equipment Operation: Operate radiographic equipment, including X-ray machines, computed tomography (CT) scanners, and fluoroscopy machines, to capture high-quality images of patients' internal structures. Adjust equipment settings and parameters to obtain optimal images for diagnosis. Imaging Procedures: Perform a variety of imaging procedures, such as X-rays, CT scans, and fluoroscopy exams, according to physician orders and imaging protocols. Position patients correctly and accurately to capture images of the targeted anatomical area. Image Quality and Processing: Evaluate image quality and make adjustments to exposure settings, image processing parameters, and positioning techniques as needed to produce clear and diagnostic images. Ensure images are properly labeled, annotated, and stored for interpretation. Radiation Safety and Protection: Follow radiation safety protocols and guidelines to minimize radiation exposure risks for patients, staff, and the public. Use lead aprons, shields, and other protective equipment to shield sensitive areas from radiation during imaging procedures. Quality Assurance and Maintenance: Perform quality control checks on radiographic equipment and imaging accessories to ensure proper functioning and compliance with regulatory standards. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure reliability and safety. Documentation and Record-Keeping: Document imaging procedures, patient information, and radiation exposure data accurately and comprehensively in medical records or electronic health record (EHR) systems. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to privacy regulations when handling patient information. Communication with Healthcare Team: Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care, interpret imaging findings, and communicate diagnostic results effectively. Provide relevant clinical information and assist with image-guided procedures or interventions as needed. Continuing Education and Training: Stay updated on advances in radiologic technology, imaging techniques, and safety practices through continuing education, professional development, and certification programs. Maintain licensure and certification requirements to ensure competency and proficiency in the field. Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving: Apply critical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities to assess imaging challenges, adapt imaging techniques to patient conditions, and troubleshoot technical issues encountered during imaging procedures. Adaptability and Flexibility: Adapt to changes in patient conditions, imaging protocols, and scheduling demands in a dynamic healthcare environment. Remain flexible in responding to emergent situations, urgent imaging requests, or unexpected workflow fluctuations.
