Job description

Cost Estimation: Calculate and estimate the costs of materials, labor, equipment, and other resources required for construction projects based on architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and other relevant documents. Budget Preparation: Assist in preparing project budgets by estimating costs for various project components, including materials, labor, subcontractor services, overheads, and contingencies. Tendering and Procurement: Prepare tender documents, solicit bids from subcontractors and suppliers, evaluate proposals, and assist in selecting contractors and suppliers based on cost, quality, and other criteria. Contract Administration: Assist in drafting and reviewing construction contracts, including terms and conditions, payment schedules, variations, and claims. Quantity Takeoff: Measure and quantify materials, components, and work items from drawings and specifications to determine the quantities required for cost estimation and procurement. Cost Control: Monitor project costs throughout the construction process, track expenses, analyze variances against budgets, and implement cost-saving measures to ensure that projects remain within budget. Value Engineering: Identify opportunities for cost savings and value enhancement by proposing alternative materials, construction methods, or design modifications without compromising quality or performance. Risk Management: Identify and assess potential risks and uncertainties that may impact project costs, schedules, or outcomes, and develop strategies to mitigate risks and minimize their impact. Change Management: Assess and manage changes to project scope, specifications, or requirements, including evaluating the cost and schedule implications of change orders and variations. Cost Reporting: Prepare regular reports on project costs, expenditures, and forecasts, providing accurate and timely information to project stakeholders, management, and clients. Claims Management: Evaluate and respond to claims and disputes related to project costs, delays, or changes, including preparing documentation, negotiating settlements, and providing expert testimony if needed. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to coordinate activities, resolve issues, and ensure alignment of project objectives. Technical Knowledge: Stay updated on construction methods, materials, building codes, regulations, and industry best practices related to quantity surveying and cost management. Computer Skills: Proficiency in using quantity surveying software, spreadsheets, and other digital tools for cost estimation, quantity takeoff, budgeting, and cost analysis. Attention to Detail: Pay close attention to detail in all aspects of quantity surveying, including measurements, calculations, documentation, and analysis, to ensure accuracy and reliability of information.
