Job description

Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiopulmonary, and other physiological systems to identify impairments, functional limitations, and disabilities. Use a variety of assessment techniques, including history-taking, physical examinations, diagnostic tests, and outcome measures, to develop individualized treatment plans. Treatment Planning and Implementation: Develop personalized treatment plans based on patients' assessment findings, goals, and needs, using evidence-based physiotherapy interventions and modalities. Provide hands-on manual therapy techniques, such as joint mobilization, soft tissue mobilization, and massage therapy, to improve tissue mobility, reduce pain, and enhance function. Prescribe therapeutic exercises, stretches, and rehabilitation programs to improve strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, and endurance. Utilize modalities such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, heat/cold therapy, and hydrotherapy to facilitate tissue healing, reduce inflammation, and manage pain. Patient Education and Self-Management: Educate patients and their families about their condition, treatment options, and self-management strategies to optimize recovery, prevent recurrence, and promote long-term health. Provide guidance on ergonomic principles, postural awareness, body mechanics, and injury prevention techniques to promote optimal physical function and prevent musculoskeletal problems. Pain Management: Assess and manage acute and chronic pain conditions using a multidisciplinary approach that may include manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, modalities, education, and psychological interventions. Develop individualized pain management plans tailored to each patient's unique needs, preferences, and treatment goals. Rehabilitation and Functional Restoration: Assist patients in regaining functional independence and returning to their desired activities, whether it's work, sports, hobbies, or daily living tasks. Provide progressive rehabilitation programs focused on restoring mobility, strength, coordination, and endurance following injury, surgery, or illness. Orthopedic and Sports Rehabilitation: Specialize in treating orthopedic injuries, sports-related injuries, and musculoskeletal conditions such as fractures, sprains, strains, tendonitis, and arthritis. Design and implement rehabilitation protocols for athletes and active individuals to optimize performance, prevent injuries, and facilitate safe return to sports and activities. Neurological Rehabilitation: Work with patients with neurological conditions such as stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, and cerebral palsy to improve motor function, balance, mobility, and independence. Use specialized techniques and interventions, such as neurodevelopmental treatment (NDT), proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF), and vestibular rehabilitation, to address neurological impairments and promote neuroplasticity. Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation: Provide rehabilitation services for patients with cardiopulmonary conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), heart failure, post-cardiac surgery, and respiratory disorders. Design individualized exercise programs, breathing exercises, and airway clearance techniques to optimize respiratory function, improve endurance, and enhance cardiovascular health. Geriatric Rehabilitation: Address the unique needs of elderly patients by providing specialized rehabilitation services aimed at improving mobility, balance, strength, and functional independence. Address age-related conditions such as osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, and frailty through targeted interventions and fall prevention strategies. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, surgeons, nurses, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and psychologists, to provide comprehensive care and optimize patient outcomes. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and care coordination activities to ensure continuity of care and effective communication among providers. Research and Evidence-Based Practice: Stay abreast of current research, best practices, and emerging trends in physiotherapy by reading scientific literature, attending continuing education courses, and participating in professional development activities. Incorporate evidence-based practice guidelines and clinical research findings into treatment decision-making and clinical practice to ensure high-quality, effective care for patients. Professional Development and Advocacy: Maintain licensure and certification requirements by participating in continuing education, professional development activities, and competency assessments. Advocate for the profession of physiotherapy and promote awareness of its role in healthcare by engaging in community outreach, public education campaigns, and legislative advocacy efforts.
