Job description

Assisting with Patient Care: Providing assistance to patients during therapy sessions, including helping them with exercises, activities, and therapeutic interventions prescribed by the occupational therapist or assistant. Preparing Treatment Areas: Setting up treatment areas and equipment for therapy sessions, ensuring that they are clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies. This may involve arranging therapy tools, exercise equipment, and assistive devices. Monitoring Patient Progress: Observing and documenting patients' responses to therapy activities and exercises. Reporting any changes in patients' condition or progress to the occupational therapist or assistant. Assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Helping patients with activities of daily living, such as dressing, grooming, toileting, and eating, as needed during therapy sessions. Providing Emotional Support: Offering encouragement, reassurance, and emotional support to patients during therapy sessions. Building rapport and fostering a positive therapeutic relationship with patients to enhance motivation and engagement in therapy. Maintaining Equipment and Supplies: Cleaning and maintaining therapy equipment, tools, and supplies to ensure they are safe, functional, and ready for use. Restocking supplies and replacing equipment as needed to support therapy activities. Transporting Patients: Assisting with the transportation of patients to and from therapy sessions, treatment areas, or other areas within the healthcare facility. Ensuring patient safety and comfort during transfers and mobility activities. Assisting with Assessments: Helping with the administration of standardized assessments and outcome measures to evaluate patients' functional abilities, motor skills, and progress in therapy. Assisting with Modalities: Assisting with the application of therapeutic modalities, such as heat, cold, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation, under the supervision of the occupational therapist or assistant. Educating Patients and Caregivers: Providing education to patients and their caregivers on therapeutic exercises, techniques, and strategies to promote independence, improve functional abilities, and achieve therapy goals. Collaborating with the Therapy Team: Working collaboratively with occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, and other members of the therapy team to coordinate patient care, share information, and achieve optimal outcomes. Maintaining Documentation: Documenting patient interactions, therapy activities, and progress notes in patients' medical records or therapy charts. Ensuring accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality of documentation according to regulatory standards and facility policies.
