Job description

Preparing Operating Rooms: Set up operating rooms with the necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies for surgical procedures. Ensure that operating tables, lights, monitors, and other equipment are functional and properly positioned for surgery. Sterilizing Instruments: Sterilize surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies using autoclaves, sterilizers, or other sterilization methods. Follow established sterilization protocols and guidelines to maintain sterility and prevent infections during surgical procedures. Assisting Surgical Teams: Assist surgeons, nurses, and other members of the surgical team before, during, and after surgical procedures. Hand instruments, sutures, and supplies to surgeons during surgery, anticipating their needs and maintaining a sterile field. Patient Preparation: Prepare patients for surgery by helping them onto the operating table, positioning them correctly, and applying surgical drapes to cover and expose the surgical site. Assist with preoperative procedures such as skin preparation and anesthesia administration as directed by the surgical team. Monitoring Patients: Monitor patients' vital signs, oxygen saturation levels, and anesthesia administration during surgery. Alert surgical team members to any changes in patients' condition or responses to anesthesia to ensure patient safety and well-being. Instrument Care and Maintenance: Clean, disinfect, and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies after each use. Inspect instruments for damage or defects and report any issues to supervisors for repair or replacement. Waste Management: Dispose of medical waste, sharps, and biohazardous materials according to established protocols and regulations. Segregate and handle waste materials safely to minimize the risk of contamination and infection. Documentation and Record-Keeping: Document surgical procedures, instrument counts, and other relevant information accurately and promptly. Maintain detailed records of surgical supplies used, patient care provided, and any incidents or complications that occur during surgery. Emergency Response: Assist with emergency situations, code events, and crisis management in the operating room as needed. Follow emergency protocols and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of patients and surgical team members. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and surgical procedures. Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth workflow and optimal patient outcomes. Continuing Education: Stay updated on advances in surgical techniques, equipment, and procedures through ongoing training and professional development. Attend workshops, seminars, and educational programs to enhance skills and knowledge in operating room technology and practices. Safety and Infection Control: Adhere to safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory requirements governing operating room practices. Follow standard precautions, use personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a clean and sterile environment to prevent infections and ensure patient safety.
