Job description

Preoperative Preparation: Assist in preparing the operating room for surgical procedures by ensuring that it is clean, properly equipped, and set up according to the specific requirements of each surgery. Sterilization of Equipment: Sterilize surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies using appropriate sterilization techniques, such as autoclaving, to ensure they are safe and ready for use during surgeries. Instrument Setup: Set up surgical instruments and equipment in the operating room, following surgical team preferences and protocols, and ensuring that everything is readily accessible during the procedure. Patient Preparation: Assist in positioning and preparing patients for surgery, including transferring them to the operating table, positioning them correctly, and securing them safely for the procedure. Assistance During Surgery: Provide assistance to surgeons, nurses, and other members of the surgical team during procedures, including passing instruments, holding retractors, suctioning, and maintaining a sterile field. Supply Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels of surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment, and ensure that adequate stock is maintained to support surgical activities. Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of surgical equipment and instruments, and troubleshoot any issues or malfunctions to ensure that they are functioning properly and safely. Safety Protocols: Adhere to strict infection control protocols and safety standards in the operating room, including maintaining a sterile environment, following hand hygiene practices, and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Communication: Communicate effectively with members of the surgical team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure efficient coordination and collaboration during procedures. Postoperative Cleanup: Assist in cleaning and disinfecting the operating room after surgeries, including disposing of biohazardous waste, removing used equipment and supplies, and restocking for the next procedure. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of surgical procedures, equipment usage, and patient information, and ensure that documentation is completed promptly and accurately in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements. Professional Development: Stay updated on advances in surgical technology, techniques, and equipment through continuing education and training opportunities, and pursue certification or licensure as required by regulatory bodies.
