Job description

Assisting with Patient Care: OT Technicians help patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and therapeutic exercises as prescribed by occupational therapists. This may include assisting patients with dressing, grooming, bathing, and mobility tasks. Setting Up Therapy Equipment: Preparing and arranging therapy equipment and tools for treatment sessions. OT Technicians ensure that therapy rooms are stocked with the necessary supplies and that equipment is clean and in working order. Monitoring Patient Progress: Observing and documenting patients' responses to therapy interventions and reporting any changes or concerns to the occupational therapist. OT Technicians may assist with assessing patients' functional abilities and progress during therapy sessions. Providing Emotional Support: Offering encouragement, reassurance, and emotional support to patients undergoing therapy. OT Technicians help create a positive and supportive environment to enhance patients' motivation and engagement in rehabilitation activities. Assisting with Therapeutic Activities: Supporting occupational therapists in implementing therapeutic activities and interventions designed to improve patients' physical, cognitive, and emotional functioning. This may include assisting with exercises, games, crafts, and other therapeutic activities tailored to patients' individual needs and goals. Ensuring Safety and Comfort: Ensuring the safety and comfort of patients during therapy sessions by providing assistance with positioning, transferring, and using adaptive equipment or assistive devices. OT Technicians follow safety protocols to prevent accidents or injuries during therapy sessions. Maintaining Therapy Spaces: Keeping therapy rooms and equipment clean, organized, and sanitized to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for patients and staff. OT Technicians may assist with disinfecting equipment, laundering linens, and maintaining cleanliness standards in therapy areas. Communicating with Healthcare Team: Collaborating with occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and treatment plans. OT Technicians provide updates on patients' progress and communicate any concerns or observations to the interdisciplinary team. Assisting with Administrative Tasks: Performing clerical and administrative duties as needed, such as scheduling appointments, answering phones, and maintaining patient records. OT Technicians may assist with completing paperwork, documenting therapy sessions, and coordinating with insurance providers. Continuing Education and Training: Participating in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in occupational therapy techniques, patient care, and safety practices. OT Technicians stay updated with current trends and best practices in rehabilitation to provide high-quality care to patients.
