Job description

Lens Fitting and Fabrication: Measure and interpret prescriptions written by optometrists or ophthalmologists to ensure accurate fabrication of lenses. Use lensometers and other optical equipment to verify lens prescriptions and specifications. Frame Selection and Adjustments: Assist patients in selecting appropriate frames based on their preferences, facial features, and prescription requirements. Perform frame adjustments, including nose pad adjustments, temple arm bending, and frame alignment for optimal fit and comfort. Lens Finishing and Edging: Cut, grind, edge, and polish lenses to fit into selected frames. Use lens edgers and polishers to customize lens shapes and sizes according to patient prescriptions and frame specifications. Contact Lens Handling: Assist with the fitting and dispensing of contact lenses. Instruct patients on proper handling, insertion, removal, and care of contact lenses. Provide guidance on lens types, materials, and wearing schedules based on individual needs. Prescription Verification: Verify accuracy of completed eyewear orders before dispensing to patients. Ensure that lenses meet prescription specifications, including lens power, axis, and prism correction. Vision Testing Support: Assist optometrists or ophthalmologists during vision testing and eye examinations. Perform preliminary tests such as visual acuity testing, lensometry, and pupillary distance measurements. Patient Education: Educate patients on proper eyewear care, maintenance, and usage. Provide instructions on lens cleaning techniques, frame adjustments, and wearing schedules for glasses or contact lenses. Inventory Management: Maintain inventory of eyeglass frames, lenses, contact lenses, and optical supplies. Monitor stock levels, order replenishments, and organize inventory to ensure availability of products for patient needs. Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with quality standards and regulations in optical manufacturing and dispensing processes. Adhere to safety protocols and cleanliness guidelines in handling optical equipment and materials. Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patient inquiries, concerns, and requests related to eyewear selection, fitting, and adjustments. Ensure positive patient experiences and satisfaction with eyewear products and services. Technical Support: Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to eyeglasses, lenses, or contact lenses. Collaborate with optical professionals and suppliers to resolve complex or specialized patient needs.
