Strategic Planning and Execution: Develop and implement strategic plans and objectives for the operations department aligned with the overall goals and objectives of the automotive organization. Establish operational priorities, allocate resources, and define performance metrics to measure progress and success. Process Improvement and Optimization: Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and efficiency enhancement within operational workflows. Implement lean manufacturing principles, continuous improvement methodologies, and automation technologies to streamline operations and eliminate waste. Production Planning and Scheduling: Develop production schedules, capacity plans, and resource allocation strategies to meet customer demand and production targets. Coordinate with production supervisors, supply chain managers, and sales teams to ensure alignment between production schedules and customer requirements. Quality Control and Assurance: Establish and maintain quality control standards, inspection procedures, and quality assurance protocols to ensure the production of high-quality automotive products. Monitor production processes, analyze quality metrics, and implement corrective actions to address deviations and prevent defects or non-conformities. Inventory Management: Oversee inventory control processes, including procurement, stock management, and inventory optimization, to minimize carrying costs and maximize inventory turnover. Implement inventory tracking systems, demand forecasting techniques, and just-in-time (JIT) inventory practices to optimize inventory levels and minimize stockouts. Supply Chain Management: Manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and monitor supplier performance to ensure timely delivery of raw materials, components, and parts. Collaborate with logistics and procurement teams to optimize transportation routes, minimize lead times, and reduce logistics costs. Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, standards, and guidelines governing automotive manufacturing operations. Implement safety protocols, training programs, and risk mitigation measures to promote a safe working environment and prevent accidents, injuries, and environmental incidents. Equipment Maintenance and Reliability: Develop preventive maintenance schedules, equipment inspection procedures, and reliability improvement initiatives to minimize downtime and maximize equipment uptime. Coordinate with maintenance teams, engineers, and vendors to perform regular maintenance, repairs, and upgrades to production equipment and machinery. Team Leadership and Development: Lead and motivate a team of operations staff, including production supervisors, technicians, engineers, and support personnel, to achieve departmental goals and objectives. Provide coaching, training, and professional development opportunities to enhance the skills, knowledge, and capabilities of operations team members. Budgeting and Cost Management: Develop and manage departmental budgets, capital expenditure plans, and cost control measures to achieve financial targets and optimize operational expenses. Monitor budget performance, analyze variances, and implement cost-saving initiatives to improve profitability and operational efficiency. Continuous Monitoring and Improvement: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), operational metrics, and performance dashboards to track progress and identify areas for improvement. Conduct regular operational reviews, root cause analyses, and performance assessments to identify opportunities for optimization and innovation. Regulatory Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies governing automotive manufacturing operations. Prepare and submit regulatory reports, compliance documentation, and operational performance reports to regulatory agencies, management, and stakeholders as required.
