Offset Printing Job in Thrissur

Thrissur, Kerala Full Time Date: 18 June 2024

Job description

Prepress Preparation: Design and Layout: Designing the artwork and layout using graphic design software. This includes arranging text, images, and graphics according to the final print specifications. Plate Making: Creating printing plates (usually made of aluminum) for each color used in the artwork. This involves exposing the plate to UV light through a film negative to create the image areas. Plate Setup and Mounting: Mounting the printing plates onto the plate cylinders of the offset printing press. Each plate corresponds to a specific color (cyan, magenta, yellow, black - CMYK) or spot color used in the printing process. Ink Application: Ink is applied to the printing plates using rollers. The ink adheres to the image areas on the plates (where the image is to be printed). Transfer to Blanket: The inked image on the plates is transferred to a rubber blanket cylinder. The rubber blanket then transfers the inked image onto the paper or other printing substrate. Printing: The paper is fed through the offset printing press between the blanket cylinder and impression cylinder. The blanket cylinder presses the inked image onto the paper with high precision and consistency. Offset printing presses can print both sides of the paper simultaneously (if equipped with perfecting capabilities) or one side at a time. Drying and Finishing: After printing, the printed sheets pass through drying units to evaporate solvents from the ink and ensure quick drying. Additional finishing processes may include cutting, folding, binding, coating (varnishing or laminating), and other post-press treatments as needed. Advantages of Offset Printing: High-Quality Printing: Offset printing produces high-quality, sharp, and detailed images with consistent color reproduction. Cost-Effectiveness: Economical for large volume print runs due to lower per-unit costs as compared to digital printing for large quantities. Versatility: Can print on a wide range of paper types, sizes, and thicknesses, including specialty papers and cardstocks. Color Accuracy: Achieves accurate color matching using CMYK process colors or spot colors for precise branding and design requirements. Long Runs: Ideal for large production runs where consistent quality and cost efficiency are essential. Applications of Offset Printing: Books and Magazines: Printing of books, magazines, catalogs, and newspapers due to its ability to handle large volume printing effectively. Marketing Collateral: Brochures, flyers, posters, and direct mail pieces requiring high-quality color printing and customization. Packaging: Packaging materials such as boxes, labels, and cartons due to its ability to print on various substrates and achieve precise color consistency. Stationery: Business cards, letterheads, envelopes, and corporate stationery requiring professional printing quality.
