Offset Printing Job in Malappuram

Malappuram, Kerala Full Time Date: 11 June 2024

Job description

Prepress Preparation: Designing or preparing the artwork, graphics, and text for printing using computer-aided design (CAD) software or desktop publishing tools. Converting the digital design files into printable formats, such as PDF or PostScript, and preparing them for plate-making. Plate Making: Creating printing plates by transferring the digital design onto photosensitive aluminum or polyester plates using a process called computer-to-plate (CTP) imaging. Exposing the plate to ultraviolet light to develop the image and chemically treating it to create the printing image areas and non-image areas. Plate Mounting: Mounting the printing plates onto the plate cylinders of the offset printing press, ensuring precise alignment and registration of the plate image with the paper feed. Ink Mixing and Fountain Solution Preparation: Mixing the printing inks to achieve the desired colors and consistency, typically using a combination of primary colors (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black). Preparing the fountain solution, a mixture of water and chemicals, to maintain ink balance, control ink-water emulsification, and ensure proper ink transfer to the printing surface. Printing Process: The printing press consists of several cylinders: plate cylinder, blanket cylinder, impression cylinder, and ink rollers. Ink is applied to the plate cylinder, where it adheres to the image areas of the plate, while the non-image areas repel ink. The inked image on the plate is transferred onto a rubber blanket cylinder, which then transfers the image onto the paper as it passes between the blanket and impression cylinders. Each printing unit applies one color of ink sequentially, with multiple units used for full-color printing, where cyan, magenta, yellow, and black inks are combined to produce a full range of colors. Drying and Curing: After printing, the ink on the paper needs to be dried or cured to prevent smudging or smearing. Depending on the type of ink used (oil-based or UV-curable), drying can be achieved through air drying, heat drying, or exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light. Finishing Processes: After printing and drying, the printed sheets may undergo additional finishing processes such as cutting, trimming, folding, binding, or coating to prepare them for final use or distribution. Quality control checks are performed throughout the printing process to ensure color accuracy, image sharpness, and print consistency.
