Job description

Patient Consultation and Evaluation: Evaluate patients with neurological symptoms or conditions through detailed medical history taking, physical examination, neurological assessments, and diagnostic tests. Assess symptoms such as headaches, seizures, movement disorders, cognitive impairment, and sensory deficits. Diagnostic Testing: Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging studies to assist in the diagnosis of neurological disorders, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), electroencephalography (EEG), nerve conduction studies, and electromyography (EMG). Diagnosis and Treatment Planning: Make accurate diagnoses of neurological conditions based on clinical findings, test results, and evidence-based practice guidelines. Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's specific diagnosis, symptoms, and medical history. Medical Management: Prescribe medications and pharmacological treatments to manage neurological symptoms and conditions, including epilepsy, migraine, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, stroke, and neuropathic pain. Procedural Interventions: Perform and interpret procedures and interventions for neurological conditions, such as lumbar puncture (spinal tap), botulinum toxin injections for movement disorders, nerve blocks for pain management, and deep brain stimulation (DBS) for movement disorders and epilepsy. Neurorehabilitation: Collaborate with rehabilitation specialists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists to develop and implement neurorehabilitation programs for patients with neurological disabilities, injuries, or impairments. Stroke Care: Provide acute stroke care, including the evaluation and management of patients with ischemic stroke, hemorrhagic stroke, transient ischemic attack (TIA), and other cerebrovascular conditions. Administer thrombolytic therapy (tPA) and other acute stroke treatments to minimize neurological deficits and prevent complications. Epilepsy Management: Evaluate and manage patients with epilepsy and seizure disorders, including medication management, seizure monitoring, epilepsy surgery evaluation, and counseling on lifestyle modifications and safety measures. Movement Disorders: Evaluate and treat patients with movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease, essential tremor, dystonia, and Huntington's disease. Prescribe medications, botulinum toxin injections, and deep brain stimulation (DBS) therapy to alleviate symptoms and improve quality of life. Neurocritical Care: Provide intensive care management for patients with acute neurological emergencies, such as traumatic brain injury, intracranial hemorrhage, status epilepticus, and acute ischemic stroke. Monitor neurological status, manage intracranial pressure, and prevent secondary brain injury in critically ill patients. Research and Clinical Trials: Participate in clinical research studies, trials, and academic research projects to advance knowledge and treatment options for neurological disorders. Contribute to scientific publications, presentations, and conferences in the field of neurology. Patient Education and Counseling: Educate patients and their families about neurological conditions, treatment options, prognosis, and lifestyle modifications.
