Job description

Patient Consultations: Conducting comprehensive patient consultations to assess neurological symptoms, medical history, family history, and lifestyle factors. Performing neurological examinations to evaluate cognitive function, motor skills, reflexes, and sensory perception. Diagnosis and Treatment: Diagnosing and treating a wide range of neurological conditions and disorders, including epilepsy, stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, neuropathy, migraine, and movement disorders. Developing individualized treatment plans based on diagnostic findings, disease progression, and patient preferences. Diagnostic Testing: Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and imaging studies to assist in the diagnosis of neurological conditions. This may include electroencephalograms (EEGs), electromyography (EMG), nerve conduction studies (NCS), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), and lumbar punctures (LP). Medication Management: Prescribing medications to manage neurological symptoms and conditions, such as antiepileptic drugs, antiparkinsonian agents, muscle relaxants, analgesics, antidepressants, and anticonvulsants. Monitoring medication efficacy, adjusting dosages, and managing potential side effects. Neurological Procedures: Performing neurological procedures and interventions to diagnose and treat neurological conditions. This may include lumbar punctures, nerve blocks, botulinum toxin injections, deep brain stimulation (DBS), and nerve or muscle biopsies. Stroke Care and Management: Providing acute stroke care, including thrombolytic therapy and stroke prevention strategies. Managing risk factors for stroke, such as hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and atrial fibrillation. Educating patients and caregivers about stroke symptoms, warning signs, and preventive measures. Neuromuscular Disorders: Diagnosing and managing neuromuscular disorders, such as myasthenia gravis, muscular dystrophy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and peripheral neuropathy. Performing electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies (NCS) to evaluate muscle and nerve function. Movement Disorders: Diagnosing and treating movement disorders, including Parkinson's disease, essential tremor, dystonia, and Huntington's disease. Providing medication management, botulinum toxin injections, and deep brain stimulation (DBS) therapy for symptom control. Cognitive and Memory Disorders: Evaluating and managing cognitive impairment, memory loss, and dementia syndromes, including Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia, and frontotemporal dementia. Providing support, counseling, and guidance to patients and families facing cognitive decline. Headache and Pain Management: Diagnosing and treating headaches, migraines, and chronic pain syndromes. Developing personalized treatment plans that may include medication management, lifestyle modifications, behavioral therapy, and interventional procedures. Epilepsy Management: Diagnosing and managing epilepsy and seizure disorders in patients of all ages. Prescribing antiepileptic medications, coordinating ketogenic diet therapy, and evaluating eligibility for epilepsy surgery or implantable devices for seizure control. Research and Academic Activities: Engaging in clinical research studies, academic teaching, and scholarly activities to advance knowledge in the field of neurology. Participating in clinical trials, publishing scientific papers, and presenting findings at medical conferences to contribute to the understanding and treatment of neurological conditions.
