Job description

Preparing the Environment: Setting up a prepared Montessori environment that is orderly, attractive, and conducive to learning. You arrange learning materials, furniture, and equipment in a way that allows children to explore and engage independently and freely. Observing and Guiding Children: Observing children's interests, abilities, and developmental needs, and providing individualized guidance and support. You facilitate hands-on learning experiences, offer demonstrations, and encourage children to explore materials and activities at their own pace. Presenting Montessori Materials: Introducing children to Montessori materials and activities that promote sensorial exploration, practical life skills, language development, mathematics, science, cultural studies, and art. You demonstrate how to use materials properly and respectfully and encourage children to explore and manipulate them independently. Promoting Independence and Self-Discipline: Fostering independence, autonomy, and self-discipline in children through practical life activities and freedom of choice. You encourage children to care for themselves, their environment, and others, and provide opportunities for them to make decisions, solve problems, and take responsibility for their learning. Language and Literacy Development: Supporting language acquisition and literacy skills through oral language development, vocabulary enrichment, phonics instruction, and exposure to literature and storytelling. You create opportunities for children to engage in conversations, listen to stories, and express themselves through spoken and written language. Mathematics and Numeracy Skills: Facilitating mathematical thinking and numeracy skills through hands-on activities and materials. You introduce concepts such as counting, sorting, patterning, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and geometric shapes, and guide children in exploring mathematical relationships and problem-solving strategies. Cultural and Sensorial Exploration: Encouraging exploration and appreciation of the world around them through sensorial experiences, cultural studies, geography, history, and science. You provide opportunities for children to explore nature, learn about different cultures and traditions, and develop a sense of curiosity and wonder about the world. Assessment and Documentation: Assessing children's progress and development through ongoing observation, documentation, and reflection. You maintain records of children's work, achievements, and milestones, and communicate progress to parents through written reports, conferences, and parent-teacher meetings. Collaboration and Professional Development: Collaborating with colleagues, parents, and administrators to create a supportive learning community. You participate in team meetings, workshops, and professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge of Montessori philosophy, pedagogy, and best practices. Creating a Nurturing Environment: Creating a nurturing, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment where children feel safe, respected, and valued. You cultivate positive relationships with children, foster a sense of belonging and community, and promote social-emotional development, empathy, and kindness among students.
