Laser Cutting Machine Operator Job in Malappuram

Malappuram, Kerala Full Time Date: 11 June 2024

Job description

Machine Setup and Preparation: Prepare the laser cutting machine for operation by loading materials onto the cutting bed and securing them in place using clamps or fixtures. Select appropriate cutting parameters, such as laser power, cutting speed, and focal length, based on material type, thickness, and desired cut quality. Program Loading and Execution: Load cutting programs into the machine's control system, either manually or through computer-aided design (CAD) software interfaces. Verify program parameters, tool paths, and cutting sequences to ensure accuracy and alignment with job requirements. Machine Operation and Monitoring: Start the laser cutting process and monitor machine operations to ensure proper cutting, engraving, or marking of materials. Adjust machine settings as needed during the cutting process to maintain quality, accuracy, and efficiency. Quality Control and Inspection: Inspect finished parts or products for quality defects, such as burrs, dross, or irregularities, and make adjustments to cutting parameters or machine setup as necessary. Measure dimensions, angles, and tolerances of cut parts using precision measuring tools, such as calipers, micrometers, or height gauges, to verify conformance to specifications. Material Handling and Inventory Management: Handle and organize raw materials, workpieces, and finished products, ensuring proper identification, labeling, and storage to prevent mix-ups or damage. Maintain inventory records, track material usage, and reorder supplies as needed to support production requirements. Machine Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubrication, and alignment checks, to keep the laser cutting machine in optimal operating condition. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, mechanical issues, or process deviations, and perform corrective actions or seek assistance from maintenance technicians as required. Safety Compliance and Hazard Prevention: Adhere to safety protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and industry regulations governing laser cutting operations to prevent accidents, injuries, and hazards. Use personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection, and follow proper laser safety guidelines during machine operation. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain production logs, job records, and quality control documents, documenting key process parameters, production metrics, and inspection results. Generate production reports, shift summaries, and downtime logs to track machine performance, efficiency, and utilization. Team Collaboration and Communication: Coordinate with supervisors, production planners, and quality control inspectors to prioritize jobs, resolve scheduling conflicts, and address production issues. Communicate effectively with coworkers, providing updates on job progress, equipment status, and any issues affecting production timelines or quality standards. Continuous Improvement and Training: Seek opportunities for process optimization, productivity enhancement, and cost reduction through the implementation of best practices, tooling improvements, or technology upgrades. Participate in training programs, workshops, and skill development activities to expand knowledge of laser cutting techniques, equipment operation, and safety procedures.
