Job description

Sample Collection: Collecting specimens such as blood, urine, tissue, or other bodily fluids from patients using appropriate collection techniques. Ensuring proper labeling, handling, and transportation of specimens to maintain integrity and traceability. Specimen Processing: Preparing specimens for analysis by centrifuging, aliquoting, and labeling them according to laboratory protocols. Following established procedures to ensure accurate and reliable test results. Laboratory Testing: Performing a wide range of laboratory tests and procedures using automated analyzers, equipment, and manual techniques. This may include tests such as complete blood counts (CBC), chemistry panels, microbiology cultures, urinalysis, and molecular diagnostics. Quality Control: Conducting quality control checks and calibration of laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and precision of test results. Monitoring and documenting quality control data to identify and address any deviations or issues. Data Analysis: Analyzing test results and interpreting findings based on established reference ranges, standards, and protocols. Identifying abnormal or unusual results and reporting them to healthcare providers for further evaluation and diagnosis. Report Generation: Documenting test results accurately and timely in laboratory information systems (LIS) or electronic medical records (EMR). Generating and distributing test reports to healthcare providers, clinicians, and other authorized personnel. Equipment Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment and instruments to ensure proper functioning and longevity. Notifying appropriate personnel of any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs. Safety and Compliance: Adhering to safety protocols, regulations, and standards to maintain a safe working environment in the laboratory. Following biohazard and infection control procedures to minimize risks of exposure to hazardous materials or pathogens. Inventory Management: Monitoring inventory levels of reagents, supplies, and consumables used in laboratory testing. Ordering, receiving, and restocking supplies as needed to ensure uninterrupted workflow and availability of resources. Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintaining accurate and complete records of laboratory procedures, test results, quality control data, and other relevant information. Ensuring compliance with documentation requirements and regulatory standards. Continuing Education: Staying informed about advancements in laboratory technology, techniques, and best practices through continuing education, training, and professional development activities. Pursuing certifications or licensure as required by regulatory agencies or professional organizations. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborating with healthcare providers, clinicians, and other laboratory staff to coordinate patient care and ensure appropriate test selection and interpretation. Communicating effectively to convey critical information, results, and recommendations.
