Job description

Sample Collection: Collecting specimens such as blood, urine, tissue, and other bodily fluids from patients using sterile techniques. Ensuring proper labeling, handling, and storage of specimens to maintain sample integrity. Specimen Processing: Processing specimens by centrifugation, separation, and aliquoting to prepare them for analysis. Following standardized protocols and procedures to ensure accurate and reliable test results. Laboratory Testing: Performing a wide range of laboratory tests and analyses on patient samples using automated analyzers, manual techniques, and specialized equipment. This may include tests for blood chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology, and molecular diagnostics. Quality Control: Conducting quality control checks and calibrations on laboratory equipment and reagents to ensure accuracy, precision, and reliability of test results. Monitoring quality control data and troubleshooting any issues or discrepancies. Data Analysis: Analyzing test results, interpreting findings, and documenting findings accurately in laboratory records and patient reports. Identifying abnormal results, outliers, and potential errors for further investigation and review. Instrument Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting on laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure optimal performance and functionality. Reporting equipment malfunctions or issues to the appropriate personnel for repair or replacement. Safety and Compliance: Adhering to safety protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and regulatory guidelines governing laboratory practices. Following biohazard precautions, infection control measures, and chemical safety protocols to protect staff and maintain a safe work environment. Inventory Management: Monitoring inventory levels of reagents, supplies, and consumables used in laboratory testing. Ordering supplies, restocking inventory, and maintaining records of stock levels to ensure continuity of laboratory operations. Documentation: Maintaining accurate and detailed records of laboratory procedures, test results, quality control data, and patient information. Ensuring proper documentation and traceability of all laboratory activities in compliance with regulatory requirements. Collaboration: Collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to communicate test results, discuss patient cases, and provide clinical support. Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings and consultations to contribute to patient care decisions. Continuing Education: Participating in ongoing education, training, and professional development activities to stay updated on advances in laboratory technology, testing methodologies, and best practices in laboratory medicine. Maintaining licensure and certification requirements as applicable. Patient Interaction: Interacting with patients to explain laboratory procedures, obtain consent for testing, and collect specimens in a compassionate and professional manner. Providing support, reassurance, and clear instructions to patients throughout the testing process.
