Job description

Testing and Analysis: Perform a wide range of laboratory tests and analyses on automotive components, materials, fluids, and systems. These tests may include: Material testing (e.g., tensile strength, hardness, durability). Chemical analysis (e.g., composition, contamination). Fluid analysis (e.g., oil, coolant, fuel). Environmental testing (e.g., corrosion resistance, weathering). Electrical and electronic testing (e.g., conductivity, insulation resistance). Mechanical testing (e.g., friction, wear, fatigue). Instrument Operation: Operate laboratory equipment, instruments, and machinery used for testing and analysis. This may include spectrophotometers, chromatographs, microscopes, viscometers, rheometers, and other specialized equipment. Sample Preparation: Prepare samples for testing by following established procedures and protocols. This may involve specimen collection, specimen preparation, sample conditioning, and sample handling to ensure accuracy and consistency of test results. Quality Control: Perform quality control checks and calibrations on laboratory equipment and instruments to maintain accuracy and reliability of test results. Adhere to quality assurance standards, protocols, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. Data Collection and Analysis: Record test data, observations, and results accurately and systematically. Analyze test data using statistical methods, data analysis software, or other analytical tools to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies. Report Generation: Prepare detailed test reports, summaries, and documentation to communicate test results, findings, and conclusions. Present findings in written reports, charts, graphs, and presentations for internal review, client communication, or regulatory submissions. Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, instrument errors, and test discrepancies to identify root causes and implement corrective actions. Collaborate with maintenance technicians, engineers, and vendors to resolve technical issues and minimize downtime. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to laboratory safety protocols, procedures, and regulations to ensure a safe working environment. Handle hazardous materials, chemicals, and biological samples according to safety guidelines and disposal protocols. Inventory Management: Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies, consumables, reagents, and chemicals. Monitor stock levels, place orders, and manage supply chain logistics to ensure availability of necessary materials for testing activities. Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and calibration of laboratory equipment and instruments. Schedule preventive maintenance activities and coordinate repairs with external service providers as needed to keep equipment in optimal condition. Training and Documentation: Provide training and guidance to other laboratory personnel, technicians, or interns on laboratory procedures, safety protocols, and equipment operation. Document training activities, procedures, and standard operating protocols (SOPs) for future reference. Project Coordination: Collaborate with engineers, scientists, researchers, and project managers to support research and development projects, product testing initiatives, and quality improvement efforts. Coordinate testing schedules, prioritize tasks, and ensure timely completion of project milestones. Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory processes, methods, and workflows. Identify opportunities for efficiency gains, cost savings, and quality enhancements through innovation and process optimization. Professional Development: Stay updated on advancements in laboratory technology, testing methodologies, and industry best practices. Attend training programs, workshops, and conferences to expand knowledge and skills in automotive laboratory testing and analysis.
