Job description

Food Preparation: Assisting with basic food preparation tasks such as chopping vegetables, peeling potatoes, and preparing ingredients according to recipes or instructions from chefs. Stocking and Inventory Management: Ensuring that ingredients, supplies, and utensils are stocked and readily available for use. This includes monitoring inventory levels, rotating stock, and notifying supervisors when supplies need to be replenished. Cleaning and Sanitizing: Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen by washing dishes, utensils, and equipment, as well as cleaning countertops, floors, and other surfaces. You may also be responsible for sanitizing food preparation areas and equipment. Assisting with Cooking: Supporting cooks and chefs during busy periods by helping to cook and assemble dishes, operate kitchen equipment, and monitor cooking times and temperatures. Dishwashing: Operating dishwashing equipment to clean dishes, pots, pans, and other kitchen utensils. This includes sorting and organizing clean dishes and ensuring that dishwashing areas are kept clean and organized. Food Storage and Handling: Properly storing food items in refrigerators, freezers, and dry storage areas to maintain freshness and prevent cross-contamination. You may also assist with labeling and dating food items to ensure proper rotation and storage. Assisting with Kitchen Organization: Helping to maintain organization in the kitchen by storing ingredients and supplies in designated areas, labeling containers, and following kitchen layout and workflow guidelines. Following Food Safety Protocols: Adhering to food safety and hygiene standards, including proper handwashing techniques, wearing appropriate attire, and following guidelines for food handling and storage. Assisting with Kitchen Maintenance: Reporting any maintenance issues or equipment malfunctions to supervisors and assisting with routine maintenance tasks as needed. Teamwork and Communication: Collaborating with other kitchen staff members to ensure efficient workflow and effective communication. This includes following instructions from supervisors and supporting team members during busy periods.
