Job description

Food Preparation: Assisting with basic food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables, fruits, and herbs, portioning ingredients, and preparing mise en place (prepped ingredients) for chefs and cooks. Dishwashing: Operating dishwashing equipment such as dishwashers, sinks, and sanitizing stations to clean dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment, ensuring cleanliness and sanitation standards are met. Kitchen Cleaning: Cleaning and sanitizing kitchen surfaces, countertops, cutting boards, equipment, and utensils, as well as maintaining cleanliness in storage areas, refrigerators, and walk-in coolers to ensure a hygienic working environment. Trash Removal: Emptying and removing trash and recycling bins from kitchen and food preparation areas, disposing of waste in designated receptacles, and maintaining cleanliness in trash storage areas. Inventory Management: Assisting with inventory control by monitoring stock levels of food items, supplies, and equipment, notifying supervisors of low inventory or supply shortages, and assisting with receiving and storing deliveries. Assistance to Cooks: Supporting cooks and chefs in various kitchen tasks such as plating dishes, garnishing, and assembling ingredients, as well as assisting with food service during peak hours or special events. Equipment Maintenance: Cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment, appliances, and tools, such as ovens, stoves, grills, fryers, slicers, and mixers, to ensure they are in good working condition and comply with safety standards. Safety and Hygiene: Adhering to food safety regulations, hygiene standards, and sanitation procedures, including proper handwashing, glove usage, and safe handling of food to prevent contamination and foodborne illnesses. Team Collaboration: Collaborating with kitchen staff, chefs, cooks, and servers to coordinate tasks, communicate orders, and ensure timely and efficient food preparation and service. Assistance with Special Requests: Assisting with special dietary requests, food allergies, or preferences by preparing customized dishes or meal options as directed by chefs or kitchen supervisors. Cleaning Duties: Performing general cleaning duties in the kitchen and dining areas, including sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing floors, wiping down surfaces, and maintaining cleanliness in restrooms and public areas. Flexibility and Adaptability: Being flexible and adaptable to changing priorities, tasks, and schedules, and willing to assist with additional duties or responsibilities as needed to support the overall operation of the kitchen and restaurant.
