Job description

Food Preparation: Assist in preparing ingredients for cooking, such as washing, chopping, and peeling vegetables, and portioning ingredients according to recipes. Cleaning and Sanitizing: Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen by cleaning work areas, equipment, utensils, and dishes. This includes washing dishes, pots, and pans, and sanitizing surfaces to prevent contamination. Assisting Cooks and Chefs: Support cooks and chefs by fetching ingredients, spices, and other items needed for cooking, as well as helping with cooking tasks such as stirring, mixing, and garnishing dishes. Stocking Supplies: Ensure that the kitchen is well-stocked with essential ingredients, condiments, and supplies by monitoring inventory levels and restocking as needed. This may include items like spices, oils, flour, and cleaning supplies. Organizing Storage Areas: Assist in organizing and maintaining storage areas, including refrigerators, freezers, and dry storage, to ensure that food items are stored properly and are easily accessible. Food Service: Help in plating and garnishing dishes before they are served to customers, ensuring that they meet presentation standards and are delivered to the dining area in a timely manner. Following Safety and Hygiene Procedures: Adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations to prevent foodborne illnesses and ensure the safety of customers and staff. This includes following proper handwashing techniques, wearing appropriate protective gear, and storing food at the correct temperatures. Assisting with Kitchen Clean-Up: Assist in end-of-shift clean-up tasks such as sweeping and mopping floors, wiping down countertops and equipment, and disposing of kitchen waste properly. Supporting Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff members to ensure efficient workflow and effective communication within the kitchen team. Handling Kitchen Equipment: Learn to safely operate and clean kitchen equipment such as mixers, slicers, grills, and ovens under the guidance of experienced kitchen staff. Following Instructions: Listen carefully to instructions from supervisors and follow recipes, portion sizes, and cooking methods accurately to maintain consistency in food quality and presentation.
