Job description

Food Preparation: Assisting chefs and cooks with basic food preparation tasks, such as washing, peeling, cutting, and chopping ingredients. They may also help in assembling ingredients for recipes and preparing simple dishes. Cleaning and Sanitizing: Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen by cleaning utensils, dishes, pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment. Kitchen Helpers ensure that work surfaces, floors, and storage areas are clean and sanitized. Dishwashing: Washing dishes, glasses, and cutlery by hand or using commercial dishwashers. They may also organize clean dishes and utensils for storage and ensure they are readily available for chefs and servers. Stocking and Inventory: Assisting with receiving and storing deliveries of food supplies, ingredients, and kitchen equipment. Kitchen Helpers may rotate stock and ensure that items are properly labeled, dated, and stored according to food safety guidelines. Assisting During Service: Supporting kitchen staff during meal services by retrieving ingredients, utensils, and equipment as needed. They may help plate dishes, garnish food, and transport items between the kitchen and dining areas. Trash and Recycling: Disposing of kitchen waste, including emptying trash bins, recycling containers, and composting organic waste. Kitchen Helpers ensure waste disposal is done in accordance with health and safety regulations. Assisting with Kitchen Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning appliances, replacing light bulbs, and organizing storage areas. They may also report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance issues to supervisors. Adhering to Safety Standards: Following health and safety procedures, including wearing appropriate protective clothing (e.g., gloves, aprons), handling hazardous materials safely, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace to prevent accidents and injuries. Team Collaboration: Working closely with chefs, cooks, and other kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow and timely preparation of meals. Kitchen Helpers may assist in multiple stations or areas of the kitchen as needed. Learning and Development: Kitchen Helpers have opportunities to learn culinary skills and techniques from experienced chefs and kitchen staff.
