Job description

Food Preparation: Assisting with basic food preparation tasks such as peeling, chopping, and slicing vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients as directed by the chef or cooks. Cleaning and Sanitizing: Washing and sanitizing kitchen equipment, utensils, dishes, and work surfaces to maintain cleanliness and food safety standards. This includes cleaning floors, walls, and storage areas. Stocking and Organizing: Ensuring that ingredients, supplies, and equipment are properly stocked and organized for efficient use during service. This may involve receiving deliveries, rotating stock, and storing items according to safety guidelines. Dishwashing: Operating dishwashing equipment to clean dishes, pots, pans, and other kitchen utensils. Ensuring that all items are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized before reuse. Assisting Cooks: Providing assistance to cooks and chefs as needed during food preparation and service. This may include fetching ingredients, fetching equipment, and helping to plate dishes. Trash Removal: Emptying trash bins and disposing of waste properly according to sanitation regulations. Keeping kitchen waste areas clean and organized. Maintaining Equipment: Reporting any equipment malfunctions or maintenance issues to supervisors promptly. Performing basic maintenance tasks such as cleaning and greasing equipment as needed. Following Safety Procedures: Adhering to safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries in the kitchen. This includes wearing appropriate protective clothing and following proper lifting techniques. Team Collaboration: Working collaboratively with other kitchen staff, including chefs, cooks, and servers, to ensure smooth operation and timely service. Communicating effectively and assisting colleagues as needed. Cleaning Tasks: Performing general cleaning tasks in the kitchen and dining areas, including sweeping, mopping, and wiping down surfaces. Ensuring that all areas are clean and presentable for guests and staff. Adaptability: Being flexible and willing to assist with various tasks as needed to support the overall functioning of the kitchen and meet the demands of service.
