Job description

Food Preparation: Assisting with basic food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, chopping, slicing, and dicing fruits, vegetables, and other ingredients as directed by the chef or cooks. Ingredient Handling: Handling and storing food ingredients properly to maintain freshness, quality, and hygiene standards. This includes proper labeling, rotation, and storage of perishable and non-perishable items. Dishwashing: Washing dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment by hand or using dishwashing machines, ensuring that they are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized for reuse. Kitchen Cleaning: Cleaning and sanitizing kitchen surfaces, countertops, equipment, and appliances to maintain a clean and hygienic working environment. This includes sweeping, mopping, and wiping down surfaces as needed. Trash Removal: Emptying trash bins and waste receptacles regularly and disposing of waste in designated areas or containers for proper disposal. This helps to keep the kitchen area clean and free of odors. Assistance During Service: Assisting kitchen staff during busy service periods by fetching and carrying ingredients, utensils, or equipment, and providing support as needed to ensure smooth and efficient operations. Stock Management: Assisting with inventory management tasks such as checking stock levels, restocking ingredients and supplies, and notifying the chef or supervisor when supplies are running low. Compliance with Health and Safety Regulations: Following health and safety guidelines and regulations to ensure food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards are maintained in the kitchen at all times. Teamwork and Communication: Collaborating with other kitchen staff members, including chefs, cooks, and servers, to coordinate tasks and ensure effective communication and teamwork. Adherence to Recipes and Instructions: Following recipes, portion sizes, and cooking instructions accurately to maintain consistency and quality in food preparation. Customer Service: Providing assistance and support to kitchen staff and addressing any customer inquiries or requests in a friendly and professional manner.
