Food Preparation: Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients as directed by the chef or cooks. Stocking Supplies: Ensure that the kitchen is well-stocked with ingredients, utensils, and other necessary supplies by restocking items as needed and maintaining inventory levels. Cleaning and Sanitizing: Keep the kitchen clean and sanitary by washing dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment, wiping down countertops and surfaces, and disposing of trash and recycling properly. Assisting Cooks: Assist cooks and chefs with various tasks such as fetching ingredients, assembling dishes, and plating food to be served to customers. Food Storage: Properly store food items in refrigerators, freezers, or dry storage areas, labeling and dating items to ensure freshness and prevent spoilage. Dishwashing: Operate dishwashing equipment to clean dishes, glassware, and utensils, and hand wash items as needed, ensuring that they are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. Assisting During Service: Assist during busy service periods by fetching ingredients, delivering food to the dining area, and helping to maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen. Following Instructions: Follow instructions from kitchen supervisors and senior staff members, asking for clarification when needed to ensure that tasks are completed accurately and efficiently. Safety Compliance: Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards, including proper handwashing, wearing gloves and hairnets, and following safety protocols when handling hot equipment or working with sharp objects. Assisting with Special Requests: Assist with special requests or dietary accommodations from customers, such as preparing customized dishes or modifying recipes to accommodate allergies or preferences. Equipment Maintenance: Assist with the cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment and appliances, reporting any issues or malfunctions to supervisors for repair or replacement. Cleaning Duties: Perform general cleaning duties in the kitchen and dining areas, including sweeping and mopping floors, wiping down surfaces, and cleaning appliances and equipment. Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff members, communicating effectively and supporting each other to ensure that tasks are completed efficiently and the kitchen operates smoothly. Learning and Development: Take initiative to learn new skills and techniques in the kitchen, seeking opportunities for growth and advancement within the culinary field.
