Job description

Assisting chefs and cooks in preparing ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning vegetables, fruits, meats, and other food items. Preparing basic components of dishes such as sauces, dressings, and marinades. Dishwashing and Sanitation: Washing dishes, utensils, pots, and pans using dishwashers or by hand as per kitchen procedures. Ensuring cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, countertops, and work areas. Kitchen Cleaning and Maintenance: Cleaning and sanitizing kitchen surfaces, floors, and storage areas to maintain hygiene standards. Emptying trash bins and disposing of waste according to disposal guidelines. Assistance during Cooking: Supporting chefs and cooks during food preparation and cooking activities, such as fetching ingredients, stirring pots, and monitoring cooking times. Assisting with plating and garnishing dishes before they are served. Inventory Management: Assisting in receiving, storing, and organizing food and kitchen supplies deliveries. Rotating stock and maintaining proper storage conditions to prevent spoilage or contamination. Kitchen Organization: Organizing kitchen equipment, utensils, and supplies to ensure they are easily accessible for chefs and cooks. Keeping kitchen areas tidy and free from clutter. Compliance with Health and Safety Standards: Adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper handling of food, cleaning chemicals, and kitchen equipment. Following personal hygiene practices, such as wearing appropriate attire and maintaining cleanliness. Supporting Teamwork and Communication: Collaborating with chefs, cooks, and other kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow and timely meal preparation. Communicating effectively with team members to relay information and fulfill kitchen tasks as required. Assisting in Special Events or Catering: Helping with setup, service, and cleanup during special events, banquets, or catering functions as directed by kitchen management. Following specific instructions and timelines to meet event requirements.
