Job description

Food Preparation: Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, chopping, and slicing vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients. Measure and portion ingredients according to recipes and instructions provided by the kitchen staff. Ingredient Handling: Receive, inspect, and store food deliveries in designated storage areas, ensuring proper rotation and organization. Maintain inventory of perishable and non-perishable ingredients, notifying supervisors when stock levels are low. Dishwashing: Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and other kitchen equipment by hand or using dishwashing equipment. Ensure that all items are cleaned thoroughly and sanitized according to health and safety regulations. Cleaning and Sanitization: Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen, including work surfaces, equipment, floors, and storage areas. Follow established cleaning protocols and sanitation standards to prevent cross-contamination and ensure food safety. Assisting Cooks and Chefs: Support cooks and chefs with various tasks during food preparation and cooking, such as fetching ingredients, assembling mise en place, and monitoring cooking times. Follow instructions and guidelines provided by kitchen staff to ensure consistency and quality in food production. Stocking and Restocking: Keep kitchen stations and work areas stocked with necessary supplies, including ingredients, utensils, and cleaning supplies. Monitor inventory levels and notify supervisors when items need to be replenished. Trash Removal: Empty trash bins and dispose of waste properly, following waste management guidelines and procedures. Keep trash receptacles clean and lined with trash bags to maintain hygiene in the kitchen area. Assistance During Service: Provide assistance to the kitchen team during busy service periods, such as assembling plates, garnishing dishes, and coordinating food orders. Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to ensure smooth workflow and timely execution of orders. Adherence to Safety Protocols: Follow safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries in the kitchen. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and report any safety hazards or concerns to supervisors immediately. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff, including cooks, chefs, and servers, to coordinate tasks and ensure efficient operations. Communicate effectively with team members to address any issues or challenges that may arise during the shift.
