Job description

Food Preparation: Assisting chefs and cooks with basic food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, slicing, and chopping vegetables and fruits. Preparing ingredients according to recipes and portion sizes. Dishwashing and Sanitation: Washing dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and other kitchen equipment by hand or using dishwashing machines. Ensuring that all items are cleaned, sanitized, and stored properly to maintain hygiene and prevent contamination. Cleaning and Sanitizing: Keeping kitchen surfaces, equipment, and storage areas clean and sanitized. This includes wiping down countertops, tables, and appliances, as well as sweeping and mopping floors. Emptying trash and recycling bins regularly. Stocking and Inventory: Replenishing kitchen supplies and ingredients as needed, such as spices, condiments, oils, and cleaning supplies. Monitoring inventory levels and notifying supervisors when items need to be reordered. Assisting with Cooking: Helping with cooking tasks as directed by chefs or cooks, such as stirring pots, monitoring cooking times, and assembling ingredients for dishes. Operating kitchen appliances and equipment under supervision. Food Service Support: Assisting with food service tasks during meal times, such as plating dishes, garnishing plates, and transferring food to serving containers. Ensuring that food is presented attractively and served at the correct temperature. Organization and Efficiency: Maintaining a clean and organized workspace to facilitate efficient workflow and minimize downtime. Storing ingredients, utensils, and equipment in designated areas for easy access. Following Food Safety Guidelines: Adhering to food safety standards and protocols to prevent foodborne illness and ensure compliance with health regulations. Practicing proper hand hygiene, wearing appropriate protective gear, and following safe food handling practices. Teamwork and Communication: Working collaboratively with kitchen staff and other team members to complete tasks and achieve common goals. Communicating effectively with supervisors and colleagues to coordinate activities and address any issues or concerns. Adaptability and Flexibility: Being willing to assist with various tasks as needed and adapting to changing priorities and demands in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Willingness to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities over time.
