Food Preparation Assistance: Assist chefs and cooks with basic food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, slicing, and chopping vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients. Measure and portion ingredients according to recipes or instructions provided by the kitchen staff. Ingredient Organization and Stocking: Organize and stock kitchen supplies, ingredients, and food items in designated storage areas, refrigerators, and pantries. Rotate stock and check expiration dates to maintain freshness and prevent food waste. Equipment and Utensil Cleaning: Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, cutting boards, and work surfaces following established sanitation procedures. Wash dishes, pots, pans, and cooking utensils by hand or using dishwashers as needed. Kitchen Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the kitchen by sweeping and mopping floors, wiping countertops, and emptying trash bins regularly. Assist with routine kitchen maintenance tasks such as cleaning ovens, grills, and stovetops. Food Service Assistance: Assist in food service tasks such as plating, garnishing, and assembling dishes before they are served to customers or guests. Transport food items, dishes, and supplies between the kitchen and dining areas as needed. Inventory Management: Assist in inventory management by conducting stock counts, recording inventory levels, and notifying kitchen staff or managers when supplies need to be replenished. Assist with receiving and storing deliveries of food and kitchen supplies, checking items against delivery invoices and verifying quality and quantity. Compliance with Health and Safety Standards: Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards, including proper handwashing, wearing appropriate protective clothing, and following food handling procedures. Follow kitchen safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents, injuries, and incidents in the workplace. Assistance During Busy Periods: Provide additional support to kitchen staff during peak hours or busy periods by assisting with food preparation, cooking, and dishwashing tasks. Work efficiently and collaboratively with team members to ensure timely completion of tasks and smooth kitchen operations. Communication and Collaboration: Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, chefs, servers, and other team members to coordinate tasks, share information, and address any issues or concerns. Work collaboratively as part of a team to maintain a positive and productive work environment in the kitchen. Adaptability and Flexibility: Be willing to take on various tasks and responsibilities as needed to support the changing needs and demands of the kitchen. Adapt to new procedures, recipes, and instructions provided by kitchen management or senior staff members.
