Job description

Food Preparation: Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, chopping, slicing, and dicing fruits, vegetables, and other ingredients. Prepare ingredients for cooking or assembly according to recipes or instructions from the chef or cooks. Dishwashing and Cleaning: Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment using manual or mechanical dishwashing methods. Ensure that all items are cleaned, sanitized, and stored properly. Keep dishwashing area clean and organized at all times. Kitchen Organization: Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen by sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing floors, wiping down countertops, tables, and equipment, and emptying trash bins. Follow sanitation and safety guidelines to prevent cross-contamination and ensure food safety. Stock Management: Assist with receiving, unpacking, and storing food and kitchen supplies in designated storage areas. Monitor inventory levels and notify supervisors when supplies need to be replenished. Rotate stock and discard expired or spoiled items according to established procedures. Assistance with Cooking: Assist cooks or chefs with cooking tasks such as grilling, frying, baking, and assembling dishes. Follow recipes, portion sizes, and cooking techniques as directed. Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure food quality and safety. Food Service Support: Help with food service activities such as plating, garnishing, and presentation of dishes. Assist in setting up food stations, buffets, or serving areas. Retrieve and refill food items as needed during service hours. Kitchen Equipment Maintenance: Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, appliances, and tools, including stoves, ovens, grills, fryers, slicers, and mixers. Follow manufacturer instructions for cleaning and maintenance procedures to prolong equipment lifespan and ensure safe operation. Assistance with Special Events: Assist with catering events, banquets, or special functions by setting up, serving, and cleaning up as directed. Help with transporting food trays, equipment, and supplies to event locations. Compliance with Regulations: Adhere to health, safety, and sanitation regulations and standards set by local health authorities, food safety agencies, and workplace safety guidelines. Follow proper procedures for handling and storing food to prevent contamination and foodborne illnesses. Communication and Teamwork: Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, servers, and other team members to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth workflow. Collaborate with coworkers to complete tasks efficiently and support each other as needed. Customer Service: Provide friendly and courteous service to kitchen staff, servers, and other team members. Respond promptly to requests and inquiries, and maintain a positive attitude and professional demeanor in the workplace. Training and Development: Participate in training sessions and skill development programs to enhance kitchen skills, knowledge of food safety practices, and understanding of kitchen operations. Seek opportunities to learn new tasks and responsibilities to grow within the kitchen team.
