Job description

Food Preparation: Assist with basic food preparation tasks, such as chopping vegetables, peeling fruits, preparing salads, and portioning ingredients. Follow standardized recipes and instructions provided by the chef or kitchen supervisor. Cleaning and Sanitizing: Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen by cleaning and sanitizing work surfaces, utensils, equipment, and kitchen appliances. Follow food safety protocols and sanitation guidelines to prevent cross-contamination and ensure food safety. Dishwashing: Wash dishes, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils using manual or machine dishwashing techniques. Ensure that dishes are cleaned, rinsed, and sanitized properly before storage or reuse. Assist with drying and organizing dishes as needed. Stocking and Inventory: Assist in receiving, storing, and organizing food supplies, ingredients, and kitchen equipment. Check inventory levels, rotate stock, and notify kitchen staff or supervisors when supplies need to be replenished or reordered. Assistance during Service: Support kitchen staff during meal service by replenishing supplies, fetching ingredients, and assisting with plating and garnishing dishes. Follow instructions from the chef or kitchen supervisor to ensure timely and accurate food preparation and service. Trash Removal: Empty trash bins, recycling bins, and compost bins regularly and dispose of waste in accordance with waste management procedures and regulations. Keep kitchen and waste disposal areas clean and free of clutter. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols, health regulations, and workplace policies to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and report any safety hazards or incidents to kitchen management. Teamwork and Communication: Collaborate with kitchen staff, chefs, servers, and other team members to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth kitchen operations. Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors to address any issues or concerns that may arise during shifts. Time Management: Manage time effectively to complete tasks efficiently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Prioritize tasks based on urgency and importance, and seek assistance from colleagues when needed to ensure timely completion of tasks. Flexibility and Adaptability: Be flexible and adaptable to changes in kitchen priorities, menus, and schedules. Be willing to take on additional responsibilities or assist with tasks outside of your usual duties as needed to support the team and meet operational needs.
