Preparation Assistance: You assist with food preparation tasks, such as washing, peeling, cutting, and chopping fruits, vegetables, and other ingredients. You may also measure and portion ingredients according to recipes. Stocking and Inventory: You replenish kitchen supplies and ingredients, including spices, condiments, oils, and other cooking essentials. You monitor inventory levels and alert kitchen staff when supplies need to be replenished. Equipment Maintenance: You help maintain kitchen equipment and utensils by cleaning and sanitizing them regularly. You may also assist with basic maintenance tasks or report any equipment malfunctions to the kitchen manager. Dishwashing: You assist with dishwashing duties, including scraping, rinsing, and loading dishes into the dishwasher or washing them by hand. You ensure that dishes, utensils, and cookware are cleaned and sanitized properly for reuse. Food Service Support: During service hours, you assist kitchen staff with food service tasks, such as plating dishes, garnishing plates, and assembling orders for delivery to customers. You may also help with packaging takeout orders or arranging food on trays for catering events. Cleaning and Sanitation: You maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen area, including wiping down countertops, sweeping and mopping floors, and disposing of kitchen waste properly. You follow food safety guidelines to prevent cross-contamination and foodborne illnesses. Assisting Cooks and Chefs: You provide assistance to cooks and chefs as needed, such as fetching ingredients, fetching pots and pans, or transferring cooked food to serving dishes. You work collaboratively with kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow and timely preparation of food. Organization: You help keep the kitchen organized by storing ingredients and supplies in designated areas, labeling containers, and arranging equipment and utensils for easy access. You may also assist with receiving and storing deliveries. Following Instructions: You follow instructions from kitchen supervisors and chefs carefully, paying attention to details and ensuring that tasks are completed accurately and efficiently. You communicate any concerns or questions to kitchen staff promptly. Teamwork: You work collaboratively with other kitchen staff, including cooks, chefs, and servers, to ensure smooth operations and provide excellent service to customers. You communicate effectively and support each other to achieve common goals.
